Wellness Coordinator Scope of Work

Essential Functions 

  • Biometric Screenings: Facilitate regular screenings for blood pressure, weight, and body composition to empower employees in managing their health. 
  • Fitness Testing: Administer comprehensive fitness assessments, including cardiovascular tests and strength evaluations, following ACSM guidelines. 
  • Injury Prevention: Conduct functional movement screenings and ergonomic assessments to minimize workplace injuries. 
  • Blood Draw Coordination: Organize annual blood draws with on-site clinical staff or external vendors. 
  • Wellness Coaching: Offer personalized consultations on exercise, nutrition, and stress management to support individual health goals. 
  • Individualized Programming: Develop tailored exercise programs based on fitness testing results and functional movement screenings. 
  • Fitness Center Management and Programming: Oversee the operations of the on-site fitness center including equipment orientations and customized fitness programs. 
  • Functional Training: Assist participants with functional movements that mimic job-related tasks to improve their performance at work. 
  • Wellness Consultations: Offer one-on-one consultations focusing on blood pressure management, nutrition, sleep, and stress management and more. 
  • Data Management: Maintain participant data and track program participation through the WorkCare Wellness Hub. 
  • Health Promotion Programs: Create and deliver webinars on various wellness topics including health fair coordination. 
  • Program Tracking: Monitor employee health and program participation, providing annual reports to stakeholders. 
  • Mental Health Support: Teach mind-body techniques such as yoga or mindfulness-based exercises that promote mental well-being. Promote and support mental health resources available to employees. 
  • Wellness Committee Management: Coordinate and manage the client wellness committee. 
  • Exercise Instruction: Teach group exercise classes and wellness clinics. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in meetings with Safety, Human Resources, and other executives to discuss wellness initiatives. 

 

First Responder Specific Essential Functions 

  • Program Promotion: Attend briefings to advocate for wellness programs. 
  • Pre-academy preparation training for new recruits. 
  • Tactical strength and conditioning training for operators. 
  • Training Support: Assist with ACT (Arrest and Control Tactics) and DT (Defensive Tactics and de-escalation) trainings and specialized group training sessions. 
  • Mental Health Resources: Support mental health initiatives, including peer support programs. 

 

Credentials/Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field. 
  • Certification as an ACSM Clinical Exercise Specialist, or equivalent certification from recognized organizations (e.g., American Society of Exercise Physiologists, NSCA). 
  • Minimum of three years of experience in wellness and fitness testing services.
